YoungBuzz Counselor - Yes,it is true that a high demand for mining engineers is found in the gulf countries like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE / Dubai, and Qatar.
There are many options with regard to a career in mining - from operations engineer to mine manager, mine designer, health and safety manager, consulting engineer, sales engineer etc. The best opportunities may require frequent travel or even living overseas for extended periods
If you are keen on shifting your profile from a mechanical to a mining one, there are plenty of oppurtunities available abroad.
You can opt for a postgraduate program in mining engineering from universities where the eligibility criteria is not restricted to the mining or earth sciences undergraduates only.
For example:-University of Melbourne offers you a masters in mining engineering where you can have a bachelors in engineering from either earth sciences, mining ,minerals or mechanical department.

For USA you would need to appear for a GRE exam for any postgraduate program along with an IELTS/TOEFL exam. For the other countries like Canada,Uk,Australia etc. you would require to give just an IELTS/TOEFL exam for admissions other than the requisite academic records.
