I am a final year student of Electronics & Telecomm engg. After my graduation I want to take up networking as my career. I have read the Career profile of Network Administrator. My question can a fresher like me gets a job of network administrator? Or is it mandatory to have any specialisation like MCSE, CCNA, CNE certification? Is there any company, which hires trainee engineers and subsequently places them as network engineer or network administrator after training? Can you name any company, which provides training on networking and after training absorbs the candidate? Ankur Mazumdar
As you are going to be an Electronics and Telecommunication Engineer, there will be many companies, which would like to recruit you as a trainee and thereafter place you as a Network Engineer after a comprehensive training in Networking technologies. In fact, most of the large scale companies in the IT sector take fresh engineers and then train them to be placed in Software development, network management, or other related jobs. Examples are Infosys Technologies, Satyam Computer Systems, HCL Technologies, Cisco Systems, Computer Associates, TCS, and so on. To get a job as a trainee in these companies, it is not mandatory to have prior certifications like MCSE, CNE, and CCNA. The training will help you learn the technologies and help you to obtain these Certifications while on the job. But in any case, if you do not get a job on campus and it takes time to get into one of the IT companies as a trainee, then enroll for a course towards these certification CNE, MCSE, etc. So that, even if you do not get a chance in large scale IT companies, you will have a number of opportunities in smaller companies in the field of IT software and services, Internet service provider, and Networking equipment manufacturing.
