It may not be possible for you at this stage of life to switch to a full time career in journalism. Getting a job would be almost impossible as you do not have the minimum qualification required as well as you have reached the age of 40. Minimum qualification to be trainee journalist is a graduation in any subject.

But it might be possible for you to get freelance work if you can develop some contacts in media. A lot of news and features you read in the newspapers and magazines are sourced from people who are freelance journalists. For them, there are no requirements for formal qualifications and age is also not a factor. But to get an assignment, you will have to approach print media companies and try to get an assignment. Getting the first assignment is the most critical. Then, if you have the abilities, you will be given a continuous stream of assignments.

Our suggestion is that you write some features on current affairs and approach sub-editors/ assistant editors of newspapers and magazines. Show them your writing. If they are satisfied, they may give you an assignment.
