For becoming a customs officer, one can either join the Indian Customs and Central Excise Services which falls under the Indian Civil Services or join as an Inspector of Central Excise and Customs.

For joining the Indian Civil Services, one has to qualify through the CSE (Civil Service Examination). To join as an Inspector of Central Excise and Customs, one has to qualify through the Combined Graduate Level Examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission, Government of India. For both the examinations, the minimum eligibility is a graduation in any subject.
