To become an I.A.S. officer you require to qualify through the Indian Civil Services examination. Thereafter you will be called for an interview based on which your final selection will be made.To be eligible to take the Indian Civil Services test, you need to a graduate with age around 21-30.

As for the skill set, you need to be Alert, Diplomatic and discreet with fluency in English and local languages. You need to have above average organising abilities, Excellent communication skills and Strong leadership abilities. You need to be Extrovert, dynamic, meticulous with awareness about national and international affairs and interest in human affairs.

There are many private coaching classes which will help fine tune your knowledge and skills but the basic groundwork will have to be done by you. Please read as many genereal awareness magazines, periodicals and daily and business newspapers as possible to keep yourself updated.
