I've heard of Biomedical Engineering. How can I study that? Is it very tough to get into that course and which college has it?

Biomedical engineers apply the knowledge of engineering, biophysical and biomechanical principles to design, develop, manufacture and maintain biological and healthcare systems and products such as artificial organs, surgical process monitoring instruments, medical information systems, diagnostic systems and health management systems.

You can study Biomedical Engineering in two ways. One, complete a BE in Biomedical Engineering right after HSC. Alternatively, study MBBS after HSC and then do a Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering or in Medical Technology.

The Indian Institute of Technology - Mumbai offers a Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering and Indian Institute of Technology - Kharagpur offers a post-graduate degree in Medical Technology. To get

into these courses, you need to have an excellent academic record. Colleges offering B.E. in Biomedical Engineering in Mumbai are are Shri Vile Parle Kelvani Mandal's College of Engineering, Vile Parle (W), Mumbai; Thadomal Shahni Engineering College Bandra, Mumbai and Mahatma Gandhi Mission's College of Engineering Kamothe, Navi Mumbai.
