Mass Communication Topics
- I am in the second year of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering in Pune. Though I like my branch, I am more keen to study Mass Communications. (I want to be a broadcast journalist). I know its a little weird especially after engineering. But I believe Mass Communications is a postgraduate course, right? Please tell me about the good institutions of mass communications in India. What are their entrance exams like? What is the eligibility criteria, can I as an engineer, take up Mass Communications? How do I prepare for the entrance tests - please recommend the books, tutorials etc.? What are the skills I should have to be a good broadcast journalist?
- I am in class XII. I want to pursue my career in Mass media. Please let me know about the BMM course.

created: 22nd Mar 2017 Last Modified: 27th Mar 2017For working in Indian Postal services you will not need any particular course to do. For clerical and assistant level jobs, you will require to pass 10+2 examination and for Officers level jobs, you will require a graduation in any subject. Competitive examinations are held for recruitment. For officers level jobs, you will have to appear for the Indian Civil Services examination. You will have to apply on seeing the recruitment advertisements in leading daily newspapers and Employment News.
In Doordarshan and radio, there are many jobs. Now, you will have to identify which job would be suitable for you. Ideally, you should choose the right career by the following steps:
Step 1: Assess your true abilities, interests and personality. Take the help of professional career counselors.
Step 2: Based on your abilities, interests and personality, make a primary list of careers, requirements for which match your profile.
Step 3: Explore all the careers in your primary list. Learn about the job profiles, requirements, remuneration, prospects, how to develop your career, a typical day in the life of the professional. Interact with professionals working in the field, access information on the careers on the Internet, and from libraries, read as much as you can on the careers, attend career talks and seminars.
Step 4: After you are fully aware about the careers in your primary list, select the one or two, which interest you most. And then do whatever is required to develop a career in your selected field.
You can take the help of professional career counsellors in selecting the right career for you. They will guide you with assessment and career information.
