IPS or Indian Police Service is not a course. It is a branch of Indian Administrative Services (IAS). If you qualify in the Combined Civil Services examination and opt for IPS, you may get into the service. The Combined Civil Services examination is held in two stages – Preliminary and Final examination. To be eligible to sit for the examination, you need a bachelor degree from any university or deemed university and you need to be between 21 and 30 years of age as on August 1 of the year for the examination. The examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, New Delhi-110 011.
