I am an MCA graduate and I want to do M. Tech but I don’t know when is the entrance examination for it and what is the career prospect if I do M. Tech. Kindly give me the detailed information regarding the entrance examination, Universities offering this course and the career prospects after doing M. Tech.
You would be eligible to do M. Tech in Computer Science. For admission to M. Tech, you have to qualify in GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering).
The Indian Institute of Technology conducts GATE at various locations all over the country in the month of February every year. MCA candidates who have Mathematics as one of the subject at the bachelor degree or master degree level will be eligible for appearing in GATE.
GATE is a single paper of 3 hours duration and generally consists of Section A (Objective Type) which is of 75 marks and Section B (Problem Type) which is also of 75 marks. You can opt for any subject of your choice. As you would like to study Computer Science, you should appear for the paper in Computer Science and Engineering.
Notification of GATE is published in all the leading newspapers in the country in the month of September. Generally, one has to collect the information brochure and application form from branches of State Bank of India/ other designated bank.
GATE scores are valid for 2 years. You may reappear the GATE exam if you are not satisfied with the earlier score. The new score (if better than the old one) could be used for admission purposes.
