Five Ways to Improve Your Communication Skills
Communication plays a big role in making or breaking a deal. Here are 5 ways to increase your verbal efficiency while you interact with your superiors, subordinates or family members and friends.
Prepare Your Opening Lines - Rehearse a few openings and don’t hesitate to take every chance you get to use them.
Pronounce Correctly - People will judge your ability through your vocabulary. If you aren’t sure how to say a word, don’t use it. If you often hear a ‘huh’ from your listener it means two things – either you are mumbling or your listener is short on hearing.
Modulate Your Voice – Do not whine when you speak. Use your voice dynamically. Speak softly when the room is quiet and raise your voice to speak loudly and clear when the room is noisy. Do not talk fast. Speak in a medium pace.
Use Gestures – Use soft gestures with your body while you speak enhances the communication objective. Maintain eye contact and look in the eye while you speak.
Avoid Miscommunication – Do not send mixed messages. Your facial expression, tone and message should match. For example, as a student, you cannot smile while you express your inability to complete a certain assignment.
