Remember: A Resume is a self-promotional document that presents you in the best possible light, for the purpose of getting invited to a job interview.

It's not an official personnel document.

It's not a job application.

It's not a "career obituary"!

And, it's not a confessional.

Your resume should answer the following questions:

  • What special expertise did you bring to your current job?
  • Attach any special praise/certificates of achievement presented to you or to your department.
  • What were the problems or challenges that you or the organization faced?
  • What did you do to overcome the problems?

In all, the complete length of your CV should not be more than two pages.

The resume is a kind of job application that you give to an organization, when you are applying to them for a particular post.

In resume writing, you must remember that the resume is what represents you at the office. It is what decides, whether you will be called for the interview. Therefore, for this reason, it is very important that it be very impressive.

The important things that MUST be there in a resume are your name, age, gender, your contact address, your educational qualifications, extracurricular activities, foreign languages you know and the level of expertise in each, previous work experience, talents, conferences and seminars attended, awards won, and positions held previously.
