Eligibility
Candidates for the degree of doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in any Faculty of this institute, shall be required to have qualified for the Master's Degree with not less than 55 per cent marks or B+ Grade in the concerned / allied discipline and the M.Phil. Degree in the concerned / allied faculty of this Institute of any other University recognised by the Syndicate of this Institute as equivalent thereto, subject to such conditions as may be prescribed therefor.
For the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Education the candidates should have secured not less than 55% marks both in M.A./M.Sc and M.Ed Examination.
Candidates, other than those holding the M.Phil. Degree in any Faculty shall be required to register and undergo the prescribed course of study under Part I and II of the M.Phil. Degree Programme and to qualify themselves by passing the examinations. No candidate will, normally, be permitted to reappear, for the qualifying written examinations on more than one occasion, or resubmit the M.Phill thesis more than once.
The candidate with Master Degree in the concerned discipline or allied discipline with not less than 55% marks or equivalent grade are eligible for Ph.D. degree programme on condition to undergo part I M.Phil. theory papers along with full time/part time scholars and only after successfully completing the part I theory papers they are eligible to submit their synopsis and later thesis for Ph.D course.
Admission Process
Candidates desirous of doing the Research Programmes offered in this Institute should apply for the same in the prescribed application form which may be obtained from the Registrar, at a cost of Rs.100/- by cash, in person or by post by sending a Demand Draft of a Nationalized Bank drawn in favor of the institute, payable at Indian Bank, Coimbatore - 641 043, along with a self-addressed and stamped envelope for Rs.8/-. Requisition should clearly indicate the programme (M.Phil. or Ph.D.) for which the application is required.
Candidates should not apply for the M.Phil. / Ph.D. Programme before
The publication of the P.G. results, failing which their applications will be summarily rejected.
The candidates should have completed 10+2+3+2 years pattern or 11 + 1 +3+2 years pattern of study or any other equivalent stream of study in anyone of the recognised universities before being admitted for the respective programmes
The application form, complete in all respects, should be submitted to the institute, on or before the stipulated date. The application should be submitted along with, The attested xerox copies of the following certificates:
Mark / Grade certificate of the qualifying PG course.
Provisional/Degree certificates of the UG and PG courses.
Transfer certificate and conduct certificate (issued by the Institution in which last studied).
Community certificate (if BC/MBC/SC/ST).
Service certificate issued by the employer (in case of candidates Applying for part-time programme, specifying the total duration of the service put in by the candidate)
No-objection certificate issued by the Head of the Institution in which the candidate is employed (In case of candidates applying for part-time programmes)
