The institute which is affiliated to NCVT became operative in the year 1993 with approved number of trainees in five different trades. The prime intention is to train skilled working force who can be employed in Industries in the surrounding area. Khambhat Taluka has several industries in the field of Chemical, Glass, Pharmaceutical, and Engineering Workshops and also in Anand District which has many industries.

In line with the Government of India Policy, Indutrial Units have joined hands with the Institute. Industries would provide their managerial skill in imparting training. This has given a new direction of upgrading, the training mechanism consistent with the requirements in the Industries which demands multiskill adaptability.
