Before starting an advertising agency, you should have very good experience in advertising. Doing a course will also let you learn some basic theories of advertising but unless you work in the field for a good number of years, it is not possible to develop skills and understanding of advertising. In our opinion, you should work in the field for at least 7-10 years before taking a plunge in being independent. Working in the field will also help you to network with people in the business as well as help you to develop good relationship with prospective clients. Without networking, it is difficult to get clients.

According to us, the first step should be identifying your true skills, aptitudes, interests, and personality to understand whether you have potentials to be successful in advertising and as an entrepreneur. You can do this with the help of a career counselling organization, which uses psychological assessment techniques to identify your true potentials. If you have the potentials, then you should be going for a good MBA course with specialization in Marketing or a good Post Graduate Diploma in Advertising. Once you complete the course, you should be looking for a job in an advertising agency as a client servicing/account executive. This job will help you a lot in networking with people. After having good experience, you can think about setting up your own agency. Though we have said you should have at least 7-8 years of experience, but the time to go out on your own would come spontaneously from you. You would feel the urge. All entrepreneurs feel that urge. Thats spontaneous. The important thing is having the right preparation.

If you need help with printed materials or even stands and banners, I can recommend http://urbansignandprint.com/ - we've been their clients for a year now and we always get quality printed stuff from them as we don't print in batches in our office.

You can start with social media. For example, Instagram is an amazing place to promote your stuff no matter what you do - you can always find more followers that would be really interested in your product! The only problem there is spam, but I use https://spamguardapp.com/ to deal with it - it has a lot of useful functions and it does everything automatically.
