As you know, decision on the right career and the right professional course for you is a very crucial one. Your decision depends on lot of factors. It would be very much inappropriate for us to suggest the right career for you on the basis of information you have given here. Ideally, you should choose the right career by the following steps:

Step 1: Assess your true abilities, interests and personality.

Step 2: Based on your abilities, interests and personality, make a primary list of careers, requirements for which match your profile.

Step 3: Explore all the careers in your primary list. Learn about the job profiles, requirements, remuneration, prospects, how to develop your career, a typical day in the life of the professional. Interact with professionals working in the field, access information on the careers on the internet, and from libraries, read as much as you can on the careers, attend career talks and seminars.

Step 4: After you are fully aware about the careers in your primary list, select the one or two, which interest you most. And then do whatever is required to develop a career in your selected field.

You can take the help of professional career counsellors in selecting the right career for you. They will guide you with assessment and career information.

In any case, for getting a good job in Information Technology, you must keep in mind that most of the companies prefer the following qualifications not necessarily in order of preference:

B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech in Computer/Electronics Engineering

Any Engineering degree

MCA/ MIT/ PGDIT/ equivalent course

M. Sc. in Computer Science/Physics/Mathematics/Statistics/Electronics/related

BCA/B. Sc. in Computer Science/Physics/Mathematics/Statistics/Electronics with a good diploma in Computer

Very few IT companies offer jobs to a graduate with a diploma in computer. However, you can get a job in a small company if you have a diploma in computer. As you are a B. Com graduate, the best course for you would be an MCA/ DOEACC 'B' level course which is equivalent to MCA.

Getting an educational loan is also easier for you if you are enrolled in a good degree course. For computer diploma courses, you may not get a loan. Almost all nationalised and private banks offer educational loan. For loans below Rs 25000, you don't need any collateral. But for loans about Rs 25000, you will need to produce collaterals like LIC policy, bonds, fixed deposits, Indira Vikash Patra, etc. You can contact the local branch of any bank for more details.
