- I am a BCom student and want to do CA. But my folks are against it. They say that it is very difficult to get through CA from AP because all the seats are already reserved and a CA from AP is having a less value than that of other States. I am really very much interested in doing CA. How can I go about it? Please give me full details about CA and Universities of other best States

created: 22nd Mar 2017 Last Modified: 27th Mar 2017It is true that CA is a very difficult course and very few students pass through the CA Final examination. You have to work really hard to pass out. You might not have experienced such hard work so far in your life. It becomes doubly harder as you have to work as an article clerk, take courses in computer, General Management and communication along with studying for CA courses. But definitely it is achievable if you have the skills and aptitudes and if you want to work hard for it.
But there is no such thing like seat reservation in CA courses. CA falls under external education system which needs you to study at home and appear for the examinations. There is only one CA course administered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India which is an autonomous institution under Government of India. There is no limit to number of seats as anyone can register for CA courses provided he meets the eligibility criteria.
You have to complete the course conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
After your class Xth, you can register for the Common Proficiency Test at www.icai.org. However you can appear in the Common Proficiency Test only after you have appeared for your HSC. CPT is the entry level test for the Chartered Accountancy Course. It is an objective type test.
After clearing your CPT, you can register for IPCC. In addition to Articleship a student must complete 100 hours of Information Technology Training (ITT). After IPCC you have to appear for your PCE and then finally register for the final course. And finally after clearing the final exam, you can finally enroll for membership at the Institute, and be called a Chartered Accountant.
At the same time, there is no such thing as CA from AP getting less value that that of other States. This is ridiculous as all CAs enjoy equal professional status. Well, career prospects of individuals may vary based on job opportunities and performance on the job. But this is true for any profession in the world.
For doing CA, you have to register with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). For registration and further details, contact:
