    My Tests

I am a graduate from commerce discipline. Now I am preparing for C.A. Intermediate examinations. One of my best interests is to make travels and tours. This made me to pursue Tourism studies. So, I have joined in Master's in Tourism Management offered by IGNOU. I would like to know what are the opportunities available for M.T.M. candidates? How they can get jobs? Tell the present trend for this course?

If you have a Master degree in Tourism Management/Administration, you will find work with:

*Travel agencies

*Tour operators

*Airlines, both national and international

*Transport and cargo companies

*Government tourism departments, including the ITDC (Indian Tourism Development Corporation) and State Departments of Tourism

*Travel consultancy organisations

Though currently going through a slump because of the post September 11 scenario and tension in the sub-continent, tourism is a major source of foreign exchange. In recent years, India has been aggressively marketing itself as a tourist destination. There has also been a increase in the number of Indians travelling overseas. This simply translates into more business and thus more opportunities in the hospitality industry which includes tourism and hotels. An indicator of the growth in the hospitality industry is that new hotels are being established, existing ones are opening up new hotels or adding rooms to their existing properties. Add to that the growth in the number of budget hotels (2-star or 3-star hotels) in smaller towns all over India. All these indicate that the future of hospitality industry is encouraging.
