IPS or Indian Police Service is not a course. It is a branch of the Indian Administrative Services (IAS). If you qualify in the Combined Civil Services examination and opt for IPS, you may get into the service. The Combined Civil Services examination is held in two stages Preliminary and Final examination. To be eligible to appear for the examination, you need a bachelors degree from any university or deemed university and you need to be between 21 and 30 years of age as on August 1 of the year for the examination. The examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, New Delhi-110 011.

Some of the centres which offer classroom coaching for the examination:

Government of Maharashtra, State Institute for Administrative Careers,

Hazarimal Somani Marg, Opposite V.T. Station, Mumbai -400 001.

Chintamanrao Deshmukh Institute of Administrative Careers,

Dadoji Kondeo Stadium, Thane Municipal Corporation, Thane.

Competitive Examination Centre,

University of Poona - Pune-411007.

National IAS Academy (National School of Banking),

Ash Lane, (Babrekar Marg), Off. Gokhale Road (North), Dadar (W), Mumbai-400 028.

Notification of the examination is published in the Employment News and all the leading daily newspapers in India.
