The work of an archaeologist is to study architectural relics and monuments and to undertake excavations to identify the period to which they belong and thereby trace the stages of development of civilisations. Archaeology is a field of study which offers a variety of specializations like Epigraphy (study of inscriptions), Numismatics (analyze the coins). If you are interested in a career in Archeology, then you will have to complete your graduation in History. And then in the masters level do a MA in either History or Archeology. The same is offered in Mumbai University at the post graduation or masters level.
