    My Tests

I am an 18-year-old girl doing B. Arch first year. But I want to become an airhostess. I also applied to a private college and have got admission. But they demanded a hefty sum as fees; and so I did not take up the admission. Please let me know the actual procedure to become an airhostess. Does the government conduct any examination for training as airhostess? Please give me the details.

Dont worry about any training or courses to become an airhostess. No prior training is required to become an airhostess. Airlines recruit and select airhostesses directly on the basis of certain attributes, not on the basis of any prior training. What you need is a well groomed look with pleasing personality; age below 25 years; graduation in any discipline (even higher secondary will do for a few airlines although a diploma/degree in Hotel Management or Tourism Management is preferred by a few airlines); at least 155 cm height with proportionate weight; normal vision (contact lenses are allowed up to a certain limit); capacity to be on your feet for long hours; a well-modulated voice; friendly and outgoing personality; patience and an attitude to help people. Prior experience in hotels or in the tourism industry may help; and of course you have to be single. Knowledge of one foreign language other than English, Hindi or other regional languages may also help. If you are selected, then the airline itself will train you. Every airline in the world has its own training establishment. For example, Indian Airlines has its training centre in Hyderabad. The Government does not conduct any examination for training airhostesses.
