I would like to know what exactly is CFA (Financial carted Analyst), whats its future, from where it is recognized and what are the ob prospects. Also how exactly it is different from CA and comparable to CA what are the ob prospects. further going for MBA would be more beneficial for my present qualification or FCA

created: 22nd Mar 2017 Last Modified: 22nd Mar 2017We think you have asked for CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) and not FCA. CFA is a qualification offered by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analyst situated at Hyderabad. The course is administered by distance education meaning that you have to study at home and then appear for the examinations. The CFA course arms you with in depth knowledge about finance. Through this course you will be able to develop expert knowledge on financial accounting, financial reporting and statements, financial research and analysis, investment management, corporate finance, banking and other related subjects. If you qualify, you will be employable in financial institutions like banks, financial services organizations, insurance companies, asset management companies, investment banking organizations, financial and economic research organizations, brokerage firms (dealing with shares, debentures, futures, options and other related financial instruments), academic institutions offering courses in finance and any company with a finance department. You will be qualified to get an officer level job in these organizations.
The CFA course as such, is not recognized by any competent authorities in India except that institution (Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts) is registered under the Societies Registration Act of India. But in any case, corporate organizations are well aware of CFA and often recruit people qualified with CFA.
CFAs future mostly varies with the situations in the finance sector. For example, in the early and mid-nineties when capital market was booming, there was plenty of jobs for the CFAs. But now, the market situation is not quite encouraging and therefore, the opportunities are less. Nevertheless, there are still ample job opportunities for the CFAs and over the next decade, one can safely project a healthy rise in the job opportunities for the CFAs. This could be catalyzed by the growth in the insurance sector.
Chartered Accountants on the other hand are auditors of financial status of an organization or a constitutional body like a State Government. They have the rights, established by Acts of India, to check the authenticity of any financial report or statements and certify it to be true. They are expert in finance and definitely they can have same kind of job opportunities as the CFAs have. And as a matter of fact, CA is a more accepted qualification than CFA in financial job market. Apart from the opportunity to get a job in any kind of financial institutions mentioned above, a CA also find job opportunities in Audit firms, financial consultants, Government agencies and departments among other opportunities.
Now whether an MBA or CFA will be more beneficial for you or not will be inappropriate for us to answer based on the information we have about you. Career success depends on various factors like your skills and abilities, interests, personality and preferences. Any qualification can bring you success if you are suitable for it.
We hope that the information has been useful to you. If you need more information, please feel free to write to us again anytime.
