The prospects of geographers lie in the uses of newer technologies like remote sensing, GIS, and others. Options in India are limited but you can try to go to USA after your MA or to UK after your BA for higher studies. Research options in USA and UK are very exciting.

Some examples of the research areas for example, are:

Spatial Analysis and Remote Sensing (SULA)

Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Study of Earth from Space (SES)

Research on SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) polarimetry, SAR interferometry,

Microwave radiometry,

Sea ice, plants and soil mapping,

Aerodynamic roughness and the dynamics of sand dunes.

Atmospheric remote sensing of clouds, rain and turbulence using Doppler polarization radar and other remote sensing instrument. Radiometric Calibration and Development

Solar Backscatter Ultraviolet (SSBUV) experiments.

Landscape modeling of vegetation, hydrology, and climatology.
