    My Tests

I have completed my graduation in science group in 2001. Recently I qualified in ICET examination, rank: 23390. I am confused about selecting either MCA or MBA. I agree that both are professional courses, but in this one-year gap I did some marketing jobs and I am interested in business administration field. I want to know who will get a higher pay, an MCA or MBA. Who has got more importance and where?

There is no option, which can be earmarked as better or which can make more money. Both an MBA and MCA can help you to get very lucrative pay and a plump post in a company. For example, fresh MBAs from a good institute can look forward to earn at least about Rs 3,00,000 per year. A fresh MCA can also earn the same amount of money in a good IT company. At senior levels too, salaries to an MBA and an MCA could be in the same range.

Whether one option is best or not depends entirely on individuals. Success in a career depends on an individual. You should select MBA or MCA depending on your potentials your skills, aptitudes, interests, personality, and preferences. You should see whether your potentials match with the requirements or demand of careers after MBA and MCA.

Identifying your potentials would help you a great deal in choosing between MCA and MBA. It is advisable to get objective and scientific information on your potentials, vis--vis, your interests, aptitudes and personality to make the right decision. Career Guidance Centres regularly hold sessions to assess ones interests, aptitudes and personality. These assessments will reveal your true personality, interest areas and whether or not you have the aptitude required to succeed in these fields. Choose your course based on the requirements of the careers that are suitable for you.
