There are many job opportunities galore for Company Secretaries. You could find yourself in:

Accounts branch of the Company Law Services (Grades I to IV) of the Government of India

Central Government departments and institutions

State Government institutions

Company law boards

Banks and financial institutions

Stock exchanges

Corporate organisations

CS firms and law firms

Management Consultancies, legal and financial consultancies

You can also start your own practice after a few years of experience.

All legal issues relating to companies and other organisations fall under the purview of a Company Secretary. Companies need advice from a person with a thorough knowledge of all relevant laws. So the employment potential in the corporate sector is good. Other organisations mentioned above also offer a good number of opportunities. But as par the trends in the profession, you would do well to add a CA (Chartered Accountant) qualification to your booty. A CS and a CA will definitely help you to have a rewarding career.
