It is heartening to know that after being qualified in naturopathy and alternative medicine as well as MLT, you are determined to enhance your knowledge and skills by doing MD in Pathology.

As you must be aware, pathologists study the causes of disease; how various internal and external

derangements or injuries affect certain cells and tissues; the progression of disease in the human body, how disease is manifested, and methods for monitoring disease progression. Pathology

provides a scientific foundation for clinical medicine and serves as a bridge between the basic sciences and patient care.

The eligibility criterion for MD Pathology is MBBS degree, including completion of compulsory internship. The selection procedure is generally as follows:

Theory examination: It consists of a written test of 90 to 120- minute duration, containing objective

questions in the subject the candidate specializes in (internal medicine/pediatrics/general surgery etc.)

and the subject the candidate has applied for.

Candidates are ranked according to the scores achieved. Top candidates are called for the

departmental test.

Generally, the theory examination consists of 50 multiple true-false questions and is of 120-minute

duration. Each question consists of either a question or incomplete statement that is followed by five

responses, each of which can be true or false. The candidate has to judge each response as either true or

false, by encircling either 'T' or 'F' on a separate answer sheet. All questions carry equal marks. One

mark is awarded for each correct response, half a mark is deducted for each incorrect response, and no mark is awarded if either none or both options ('T' and 'F') are marked.

Departmental test: This component of the selection process, conducted by the departmental faculty in a

structured format, assesses candidates' practical knowledge and skills in the subject, and aptitude for

research and teaching.

Selection committee interview: The candidate is interviewed by a selection committee, which is chaired

by the Director or the Director's nominee.

Distribution of marks: Selection is made based on rank in aggregate marks of the three components.
