Postgraduate courses in Australia are usually of 1-1.5 year duration. As you are keen on enrolling for your Masters programme in an Australian institution, you need to complete your graduation and take the IELTS (International English Language Testing System). Apart from the IELTS, you need not take any exams. Though universities and colleges in Australia accept TOEFL scores, the visa office will require you to submit IELTS scores ONLY as a proof of your proficiency over the language. Hence you are strongly urged to register for the IELTS. SAT/TOEFL scores are admission requirements you need to fulfill if you are applying to American institutions at the undergraduate level. As for the contents of the IELTS, it tests the students English language skills. The student has to take modules in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. You need to procure a 6.5 average on a band of 9. The test is available at least once a month. There are various IELTS centres in India. You can register for the test at an examination centre most convenient to you. And for more information on registration and preparation, contact British Deputy High Commission, British Council Division, Mittal Tower 'C' Wing, 2nd Floor, Nariman Point, Mumbai 400 021.Tel: 22823560/3530.

As for the documents, you need to send across your academic testimonials, work experience if any, statement of purpose if required and financial papers. Each university will have their own requirements so refer to the information leaflets/ brochures of the institution before applying.
