The eligibility for B. Tech courses in IIT is a pass in Higher Secondary examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English. For admission to IIT, you have to appear for IIT Joint Entrance Examination. If you are in Std XI / XII and expect to complete Higher Secondary in the year in which you seek admission to IIT, then also you can appear for the entrance examination.

IIT-JEE is conducted in two stages now IIT-JEE Preliminary examination and IIT-JEE Final examination. To appear in the IIT-JEE Final examination, you have to qualify in the preliminary examination. Notification of the preliminary examination is published all the leading English daily newspapers in India in the month of July/August. The examination is held in December/January.
